Tim Greene and I had the opportunity to visit the new RISO customer demo center in downtown Chicago this morning. In addition to the spectaular views, we were introduced to David Murphy, who spoke to us a bit about the future direction of RISO. Highlighting the HC5500, David stated that inkjet is valuable to the future of their product line and that it was time for them to begin an active push into the production, commercial space.

One of the more interesting conversations we had while on the tour was around the durability of the HC5500. David showed us a wild video of an HC5500 strapped to the back of a military Hummer. After what seemed to be quite the exciting ride, the HC5500 was plugged in and sample prints were run, while the Hummer needed minor repairs. (watch the video)

A tour of RISO’s booth, here at Graph Expo, will allow you to see a digital duplicator being powered by a bicycle and an HC5500 with clear covers to allow visitors to see the devices paper path, with LED lighting tracking the sheet in real time. (watch the video)
