Xerox's Brian Segnit Delivers a Keynote Presentation at the 2010 PhotoPublishing Summit

InfoTrends’ 2010 PhotoPublishing Summit was held last week in Chicago. This event, now in its third year, brings together sponsors, invited VIP guests, and other representatives of print, photo, retail, and other industries to explore opportunities in the rapidly growing market for custom and short-run photo specialty products that help consumers to tell their life stories and businesses to communicate more effectively.

Conference attendees enjoyed a full agenda that featured presentations from vendors, peers, and analysts, one-on-one meetings with current and future suppliers, and networking time to exchange war stories and ideas with others. Recurring themes throughout the Summit included:

  • Continued Innovation in products, services, business models, and channels. This may include products optimized for the billions of low-res images shared on social networks or that combine user-generated and professional content, expanding focus from print to marketing services, targeting B2B and B2B2C applications, and combining printed output with delivery by e-mail or to mobile devices.
  • Licensed Content such as logos, characters, and photos of celebrities or sports and tourist venues. These assets can add value to custom photo products, but tools that provide access while preserving brand integrityand design standards while facilitating usage tracking and compensation will be important for success.
  • Staying Engaged to learn about equipment and software advancements, exchange ideas on operational issues, new markets, and new applications, and to explore new partnerships. Information and relationships are essential in this rapidly changing market.
