Okay, so up front, let me address the elephant in the room…I know there has been some less than flattering feedback about the direction of the show the past few years.  I know this because you’ve been kind of enough and trusted me enough to tell me directly to my face or on the phone.  You know me, I appreciate honesty and I love people who are direct.  I’m simply asking you to do me a favor, the favor is this, read this piece and allow me lay out a few points as to why I believe you should attend this year’s event.  Fair enough? Itex Register

First, our industry needs this show to be successful.  We need an event, and as “We” I include everyone who is dedicated to the industry, that is independent, unbiased and most of all an event that provides value to and for independent office technology companies.   ITEX National Conference and Expo’s team has been working diligently for the past year to dig deep and renew the position of this show as the go-to resource for the independent channel.

Second, we have revamped conference program this year that will be produced by InfoTrends, the leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry.  The ITEX conference program will be a 2 ½ day event jam-packed with informative sessions. ITEX focus this year is to provide the opportunity for office technology vendors, dealers, resellers and managed services providers to engage with industry experts, share perspectives, and discuss how to thrive in this evolving industry.  The program offers something for every partner in the office equipment and solutions space. Our conference sessions focus on the future of the industry – the emerging practices and technologies that will help players stay ahead of the curve. And, we have hand-picked our speakers to bring you the best possible line-up.  This year the event features 30 dealers either presenting on a topic or as a member of a panel.  So no commercials, it’s all about value information to the dealer…if we hear that someone is giving a commercial, they won’t speak at the event in the future, I can promise you that.

ITEX 2016 session tracks include:

  • Print & Managed Services
  • Workflow & Solutions
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Data-Driven Business

Third, the conference will feature some of the most exciting keynote speakers we have ever showcased: Keynote Speakers

  • Millennials and Diversity – Building a 2020 Workforce – Laura Blackmer, Senior Vice President of Sales, Sharp Imaging and Information Systems
    • In this keynote Blackmer will address the massive shift our workforce is currently undergoing as aging baby boomers are retiring, more women than men are graduating from college and post graduate programs and technology has changed how Gen Y and Millennials work and expect to work. She will answer the questions of “Why should we care?” “Can we change?” and “How?”
  • Manufacturing the Future – Cathy Lewis, Chief Marketing Officer & Executive Vice President, 3D Systems
    • In Lewis’s keynote she will address next generation 3D technologies and improved materials that are revolutionizing product strategies and business models with 3D printing in the form of mass customization and one-of-a-kind products, on demand. Cathy will assert that whether you believe 3D printing is hype or reality – she suggests you get in the game now, before your competitor’s do, and begin to manufacture the future.
  • US Office Technology Industry Outlook – Jeff Hayes, Managing Director, InfoTrends
    • In his keynote session, Hayes will provide a state of the industry review of market trends and the office technology channel including insights from extensive interviews with dealers. He will provide recommendations to help you evolve your business model and engage with your customers to achieve sustained growth.
  • Innovation for an Evolving MPS Landscape – David Laing, GM HP PageWide Enterprise X LaserJet and Enterprise Solutions, HP Inc.
    • In Laing’s keynote address, you will learn about the MPS continuum and how on-going innovation of products, services, and partner program offerings impact the demands of today’s organizations.
  • State of the Independent Office Equipment Dealer Channel – David Ramos, Director, InfoTrends (alright, this guy isn’t very exciting but the other four really are)
    • In my keynote I will provide an in-depth breakdown of the topics driving change across the independent dealer channel landscape backed by key findings from my 2016 national dealer survey and further explore today’s leading sales and marketing practices and overall business challenges.

I will be writing a series of blogs in the coming weeks highlighting different sessions and all of the keynote speakers and their topics, watch for them on the InfoTrends blog and in the various groups on LinkedIn related to our industry.  So please register for ITEX today and start planning your flight and hotel arrangements.  It’s a little known fact that studies show you should book your flights at least 54 days in advance for the best airline ticket pricing!  Here’s to a tremendous 2016 ITEX Expo, see you soon!
