Inspiring Customer Passion: The 2012 Konica Minolta Dealer Event

More than 1,000 attendees have been in Las Vegas the past couple of days at the Bellagio hotel for Konica Minolta’s dealer event. This is the third such Konica Minolta event I’ve attended in the past few years. (See previous blogs on the one in Los Angeles in 2010 and Orlando in 2009. This year’s theme is “Inspire Customer Passion” and to bring that message home Konica Minolta presented an engaging mix of corporate presentations, an inspiring keynote by Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos and author of the book Delivering Happiness), and evening entertainment by Larry the Cable Guy.

Its on! Ink versus toner in wide format

There is a very interesting battle that continues to play out between inkjet and toner-based products in the wide format technical market. The way this has played out is that for production environments where speed and running cost are the critical issues, toner-based printers are the best option. But for environments that support fewer people and have lower print volumes, or that require color, inkjet printers are the best solution. To date this battle for pages has been fairly simple because color has been the key differentiator for inkjet while speed has been a key differentiator for toner-based devices. In 2008 we’re seeing the end of those clear battle lines.
