Recently at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Adobe employees, partners, customers, press and analysts gathered for the annual digital marketing conference, Adobe Summit 2017. With over 250 sessions this year, the event drew over 12,000 attendees—a 20% increase over last year’s participation—including more than 120 sponsors and 1,500+ partners.

The event took place over the course of three jam-packed days with a little something for everyone in attendance. Keynotes and break-out session topics ranged from cross-channel marketing, to customer experience, data-driven marketing, integrated marketing, mobile marketing, and programmatic advertising.

Swiss Post Solutions (SPS) recently invited the analyst community to its Industry Analyst Symposium held in Vietnam on November 23-26. During this multi-day symposium, SPS’ senior management briefed analysts on the SPS business, its latest technology innovations, as well as on its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) strategy. Analysts were also invited for site visits to both of its Vietnam offshore facilities in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City. This blog post covers our takeaways from the event.

On March 7-8, OpenText’s Innovation Tour 2016 took place nearby Munich, Germany. This user conference, part of a global series of events held in five cities around the world, hosted more than 750 participants. The conference featured keynote speeches, several customer and partner presentations, and breakout session focusing on a variety of topics around the digitalization of the enterprise – all focused on this year’s theme of Enabling the Digital World.
In his keynote, Mark Barrenechea, CEO and CTO of OpenText, talked about the digital enterprise revolution, the importance of enterprise information management (EIM), and their next generation EIM platform: Release 16. Here are the key take-aways from his keynote.

The eleventh annual Comparting conference was held in Böblingen, Germany, near Stuttgart from October 15-16. The Comparting conference, organized by Compart each year, is a two-day international forum for Multi-channel Document and Output Management. This years’ focus was on how companies are dealing with customer communications that increasingly revolve around multi-channel-capable document processing.
About 375 people attended the event which is a slight increase compared to last year. With participants from 14 countries representing 37 nationalities, this years’ event had a stronger international character than ever before. In addition to keynote speeches and several presentations of customer cases, there were also special tracks focused on business and technology issues.

This year at the annual LegalTech show held Feb. 3-5 at the New York City Hilton Midtown, over 100 exhibitors shared the tradeshow floor to demonstrate and display their robust technology geared to help law firms and legal professionals optimize their businesses and workflows. One of the most exciting announcements of the show was Ricoh’s newest offering that they are temporarily calling “Legal MFP”, a platform that can be used on select Ricoh MFP devices to improve end-user workflow while enhancing operational efficiencies, and lowering costs. After being in beta for several months, Document Capture Technologies (DCT), creators of SimpleScan Connect, announced on April 29th the release of their SimpleECM solution- “making information available where and when businesses want it”. This enterprise content management platform was created with a “workflow-centric view” of document/capture management and is delivered via standard application programming interfaces (APIs) and cloud-based services. InfoTrends recently published its annual North America Network Document Solutions Forecast: 2012-2017 for the Office Solutions market, which demonstrates solid growth at a CAGR of 8.5% with total revenues reaching above $2.8 billion by 2017. Broken out by revenue category, distribution channels, and company size, InfoTrends provides YOY revenue adjustments within the Device Management, Output Management, Capture Workflow, and Document Management areas, including mobile and SaaS solutions.Â Overall, capture/workflow, document management and output management show the strongest growth rates, while device management is predicted to generate smaller revenue numbers. Because MPS offerings are shifting from traditional hardware to advanced solutions engagements, and the surge of mobile and cloud solutions continue to transform the office environment, InfoTrends expects medium-sized organizations and business process automation solutions to drive long-term growth opportunity.

Last week, I toured New England Document Systems in Manchester, NH to gain a better understanding of how smaller providers are remaining competitive in the document management solutions market.

This year’s Doxnet conference and exhibition, held from June 17th to 19th in Baden Baden, Germany, was remarkable for two reasons: strong attendance and a focus on Enterprise Content Management (ECM). Doxnet (www.doxnet.eu) is a not-for-profit association for document experts and companies active in document management – usually for mission critical documents and traditionally with a focus on print output. The geographic focus is on German speaking countries and for obvious reasons the majority of members come from Germany with smaller shares from Austria and Switzerland. The event had 613 attendees pre-registered from a total of 218 companies, setting a new record attendance. The exhibition hall had strong representation from manufacturers of inserting equipment, but less so for printing system manufacturers, with only Canon/Océ, Pitney Bowes, and Ricoh exhibiting. There was also a strong showing in the area of electronic document solutions from software to service providers for electronic alternatives to printed statements.
