ZDNet.com

When we look at Web-to-Print software today, we still have not seen the momentum build to mass-market adoption but there are some predictions that it will occur soon. According to the latest InfoTrends research, the share of web-purchased commercial print volume will double from 15% in 2009 to 30% in 2014. When compared to data from a decade ago (2000), the percentage has grown over 5x, where only less than 3% of print volumes were e-enabled.

Each choice counted as one media type, and examples included direct mail, email, blogs, social media, and radio.

American Printer

“I don’t see anything else that will be more visible,” says Infotrends’ Jim Hamilton. “Wasn’t 2004 a CTP drupa? Or was that 2000? Sooner or later it’s going to be the ‘electronic delivery’ drupa and I hope to be retired by then. I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of tablets and mobile apps at drupa 2012.”Hamilton says we can expect new players, particularly on the cut-sheet inkjet side. “I’ve been disappointed by the B2 inkjet so far and am not expecting much of a turnaround there,” says Hamilton. “Maybe something that’s A3+. There will also be new roll-fed inkjet players like Xerox.”

San Francisco Chronicle

“At InfoTrends, we closely monitor the digital postal mail space, and have seen the landscape evolve significantly over the past several years,” said InfoTrends analyst, Matt Swain. “Our analysis shows that first class mail volume in the US is continuing to drop, highlighting a clear shift in how organizations and consumers prefer to communicate with one another. Participating in the first Zumbox Advisory Board meeting in June gave me the opportunity to tap directly into a group of individuals at the forefront of the digital postal mail revolution, and I’m excited to see the impact they’ll have on the industry in 2011 and beyond.”
