A Decade of Dscoop

Last week, like many others I braved snow, sleet, and freezing rain to get to DscoopX in Washington DC.  While the weather outside was less than desirable, there was tremendous spirit and enthusiasm for the industry and digital technologies inside the Gaylord Convention Center.

More than 2,000 print professionals from 41 countries and over 115 business partners participated to share perspectives on how to “Xpand Print”.  According to show organizers that means that since inception more than 20,000 HP end users worldwide have participated in a Dscoop event. DscoopX had the largest Dscoop solutions showcase ever with over 45,000 square feet of exhibitions. It had the biggest HP presence in the solutions showcase in Dscoop history featuring an HP Indigo 30000, HP Indigo 20000, two HP Indigo 10000 units, and an array of large format technology all showcasing applications and opportunities for digital technology.
Education is always at the forefront of DSCOOP.  The Dscoop Conference program featured 120 conference sessions focused on everything from lean manufacturing to emerging technologies to financial metrics for success.

There was a special emphasis on packaging, demonstrating that Dscoop is investing in the packaging industry more than ever. The DscoopX Packaging Renaissance sessions were designed to inspire participants to think beyond the obvious to create market-leading innovations for end customers, stay ahead of your competitors, and lead the market in business growth and profitability. There were unique sessions focused on providing tools necessary to realize participant ambitions in leveraging digital technology as it relates to folding carton, flexible packaging, labels, and shrink sleeves.

This year was also the inaugural year of the Jetcomm event, a global community for users of HP Inkjet Web Presses. More than 150 users of HP production inkjet printing providers from around the world participated in sessions that enabled them to learn from their peers, build trusted cross-market relationships and inspire one another with ideas and resources.

DscoopX continued the tradition of bringing together HP prospects, current customers, industry insiders, and partners to engage in a dialog that improves the probability of creating effective solutions to the most pressing business problems.  I think all participants would tell you that the DscoopX Annual Conference was a great way to re-energize your passion for print and experience education and networking focused exclusively on the needs and challenges of growing business.  It highlighted that for those willing to learn from others there is opportunity to Xpand Print and profitability.  Next year Dscoop is “on the move” and headed to the San Antonio Convention Center on April 14-16. …A little less snow and a lot warmer weather.  We’ll see you there!
